I am writing these notes on December 19, 2000. I am updating this on December 22, 2000.
On December 13, 2000 a "special" meeting of the board was called to consider whether to create a Finance Committee and to review the status of the search for a new CEO for ICANN.

With regard to the finance committee: I voted to create it. ICANN's financial situation is such that it needs focused attention. A finance committee seems to be a good vehicle for that.
With regard to the CEO search: this is a personnel matter and I do not feel at liberty to discuss this matter in public. However, it was my impression that research effort has been performed professionally and without bias. I may have some small disagreements with the criteria that have been applied, however I cannot say that the criteria that have been used are unreasonable. I am hopeful that the Internet community will be pleased with the outcome of the search.
